About the Artist
Carmen J. Taveras was born in the Dominican Republic. She has been dedicated to working in the medium of watercolour since 2009, mainly with an abstract theme of waterlily pods. Taveras obtained her Fine Arts Diploma through distance education with ICS Canada in 1991, and went on to further her studies in Art History and Watercolour painting at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Surrey, BC, Canada.
From the period of 1998 to 2009, Taveras took a break from painting to focus on writing. She has enjoyed both creative mediums, which she cross-pollinated when she wrote and co-illustrated her own bilingual children's story, Baby Ruth and the Alligator, published in 2007 in her birth country, and again in 2017 in England. After many years of painting for pleasure, Taveras decided to explore the business side of creating. She started Cethera Arts, her own small greeting card business in 2012, and is currently focused on exhibiting her paintings publicly. Taveras lives in Vancouver, Canada.
